The children used their DCF skills to compose and write a text message to the Sleepy
Bumblebee!
The children thought carefully about where the bumblebee could sleep and used the iPads to type their ideas.
The children’s confidence using technology, sounding out words and sharing their creative ideas was fantastic. Da iawn pawb! π
We explored the life cycle of a butterfly using natural materials outdoors!
The children worked creatively to make eggs, caterpillars, cocoons and butterflies using leaves, sticks, petals, stones and other natural objects they found. πΏπͺ΅πΈ
As they created their life cycles, they talked about each stage and used wonderful vocabulary such as “caterpillar,” “cocoon,” and “butterfly.” We were so impressed with their teamwork, creativity and speaking skills! π
What fantastic little nature explorers we have! ππ¦
In Maths, we have been exploring shapes in the outdoor environment. We have been identifying both 2D and 3D shapes. Using their knowledge of shapes, they worked together to build an obstacle course.
Through problem-solving and discussion, we discovered that flat surfaces are easier to balance on, while curved shapes like cylinders are great fun to crawl through!
It’s been wonderful to see everyone thinking mathematically while being active and creative in the outdoors.
We had visitors in Reception classes, and learnt about road safety.
π΅ We sang a song about stopping before the kerb, looking for any traffic and listening carefully before crossing a road.
β We learnt that it’s important to hold a grown-up hand and to never run out into the road.
π We even had a go at being a school crossing person and stopping the cars to make sure it’s safe to cross the road.
Everyone listened and took part so well in this important activity. Da iawn pawb π
